Candace Vs Chicken Wing

Welcome to the Food Network. Last month, we brought you the epic battle Sammy Vs The Pho. This week we bring you another clash of the titans. Introducing.....

A little background. There is this chain in the Bay Area called SmokeEaters (formerly named the very clever University Chicken which itself was formerly named the even more cleverer Cluck U) that specializes in serving hot wings to college students. The spiciness of the hot wings range from "mild" to "hotter than hell". One of the gimmicks they offer is that if you can eat 12 of the HTH (hotter than hell) wings in ten minutes (no water, no napkin) then you get a trophy, a t-shirt, massive diarrhea, and a possible ulcer. Who can pass up that deal? And that leads us to today....

Let me introduce you to my friend Candace. The incumbent.

Status : SAF
Profession : Teacher
Likes : hiking, cooking, sports, eating, sleeping, her students (sometimes)
Dislikes : allergies, lazy students, ungrateful students, bad students, smelly students, ignorant parents

Now let me introduce you to my friend Chicken Wing, the challenger.

Likes : Nothing. Chicken Wing hates everything. Look at that picture, look how mean he looks. Chicken Wing he eats little puppies for breakfast and rainbows for dinner.
Dislikes : Everything... Man, look at that platter. If it looks nasty in the picture, it looks (and smells) even nastier in the flesh. You can smell the peppers they were so strong. My eyes were tearing up just looking at it. And Candace would have to eat those....

So here we go! The wings just came out, I take you to a LIVE blog of the event, minute by minute breakdown of this epic event.

00:00 - So it begins.

02:00 - Candace finishes one wing. One wing down! This could be history in the making. This could be an epic victory.

03:00 - Candace gives up.

Awkward silence

You know in sporting events when one team is blowing out the other? Near the end of the game, the announcers have nothing left to talk about since the game is so boring so they start pulling random stories our of their ... and starts telling. That is kind of where we are at now with this blog right now. I was planning to write 200 words on the event, but we can stop at twenty...

So i guess it's time to pull random things out and write about them!!

Random thought number one. This went onto Facebook, but the new Sandra McCracken hymns album In Feast or Fallow is really, really nice. I can't get enough of it. Check out this song.

Random thought number two. Lost season six is pretty good so far. Season five was an absolute stinkbomb, but the first five episodes of the last season has been nothing short of riveting. All the time traveling crap is out and we're back to the future, where Lost should be. And the Smoke Monster is back!! And it's badder than ever. It's like the writers kept the smoke monster under wraps for the first five season and now that the show is ending, it's time to take the wraps off Smoke Monster and let him go crazy. Smoke Monster has been pretty impressive.

Random thought number three. In case you don't know, i'll be going back to Cambodia this year. I'll have a blog about that before we go telling you guys what we are gonna be doing. I'm pretty excited about this trip.

Random thought number four. There is something strangely satisfying about eating things you grow. I've been very bad at posting updates about how the garden is growing, but my peas already have been harvested, and the tomatoes and squashes are growing nicely. I eat peas three/four times a week these days cause i have so much. I never even liked peas much, but I find i like eating my peas a lot. Every time i eat a meal of homegrown peas, i feel green, Al Gore would be proud of me.

In case you want to watch a video of this debacle. Here it is.
